Raymond Shorter, wrote the first draft of the script for Tommy and Ray as a student at Wedgwood Academy. Wedgwood Academy, established in January 1997, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education of those special children with learning differences. Raymond, on the Autism spectrum with Attention Deficit Disorder. He enrolled in 2014 as a 5 th grader and graduated in 2022 with his high school diploma and a dual credit from Tarrant County College. Raymond is an aspiring actor and will star as Ray in the film. Raymond is also an excellent pianist and musician, his original music will be featured in the music score of the film. His friends, Luke Jenson and Nick Britton also students of Wedgwood Academy will star in the film as well.
Tommy and Ray’s production team has incorporated strategies to involve the community in the film making process during the audition and casting process. The opportunity is open to the community and is especially open to any student at Wedgwood Academy or with a disability to become a part of the film either as an actor, behind the scenes with production or with the film crew. Outlets such as Fox 4 News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, flyers, marketing and promotional material, emails, billboards and our website will direct those interested in becoming a part of the film making process.
